Treasures of Tunis Day Tour Details

Tunis holds three thousand years of Mediterranean history within half an hour of each other, and this day draws them together.

You begin among the mosaics of the Bardo, one of the richest Roman collections anywhere, then walk the hilltop ruins of Carthage above the gulf it once controlled. The afternoon turns to the medina, a UNESCO-listed maze of souks, doorways and courtyards still very much lived in.

The day closes in Sidi Bou Said, where blue shutters and whitewashed walls look out over the sea — best seen with a mint tea in hand as the light drops.

Highlights

  • Roman mosaics at the Bardo, one of the richest collections in the world
  • The ruins of Carthage on the hill above the gulf
  • The UNESCO-listed medina of Tunis, still lived and worked in
  • Blue-and-white Sidi Bou Said, best at the end of the day
  • A licensed guide and private vehicle for the whole day
